Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino scored crucial goals when Arsenal beat Brentford 2-0 in a Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
The Gunners’ victory in the London derby extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Saka scored Arsenal’s second goal in stoppage time after Merino found him among the Bees’ defenders with an accurate pass.
Saka produced a powerful shot that was too hot for Caoimhin Kelleher to handle, making it 2-0 in the 90+1 minute. His goal was the 100th Arsenal goal in 2025.
Merino opened the scoring in the 11th minute, heading in a cross from Ben White. Merino could have doubled the score in the 69th minute, but he narrowly missed the golden opportunity.
After securing three points, Arsenal went five points clear at the top of the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s side has accumulated 33 points from 14 matches.

Manchester City ranks second with 28 points after 14 games. Pep Guardiola’s side has won 9 matches, while the Gunners have won 10 games.
