Arsenal 3-1 Bayern: Gunners hand Vincent Kompany’s side first defeat in UEFA Champions League

Arsenal defeated Bayern Munich 3-1 in the UEFA Champions League, remaining unbeaten with 15 points. The match included goals from Timber, Madueke, and Martinelli.

Arsenal handed Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich their first defeat in the UEFA Champions League on matchday five at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

The Gunners remain the only unbeaten side in the 2025/26 league phase of the elite European competition after beating the German champions 3-1.

Jurrien Timber opened the scoring with a close-range header in the 22nd minute from Bukayo Saka’s corner kick. 17-year-old Lennart Karl responded for Bayern, equalising ten minutes later.

Noni Madueke, who replaced injured Leandro Trossard in the first half, restored Arsenal’s lead in the 69th minute. Gabriel Martinelli then put the game beyond Bayern’s reach when he netted Arsenal’s third goal in the 77th minute.

Mikel Arteta’s side tops the UEFA Champions League table with 15 points after winning all five matches. Bayern ranks third after the defeat. The Germans are tied with PSG on 12 points after winning four of their last five games.
