Crystal Palace 0-1 AEK Larnaca: Riad Bajić scores as Cypriot club stuns Eagles in England

Riad Bajić’s goal secured AEK Larnaca’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Europa Conference League, maintaining their perfect record with two wins and no goals conceded.

Riad Bajić scored the only goal of the match when AEK Larnaca stunned Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park on matchday two of the Europa Conference League on Thursday, 23 October 2025.

Bajić found the back of the net with a brilliant shot from the edge of the box in the 51st minute. Marcus Rohdén assisted him.

In-form striker Jean-Philippe Mateta came close to scoring the first goal of the match in the 21st minute, but his shot rattled the crossbar and flew off the pitch.

The home side’s attacking players created numerous scoring opportunities in the clash, but were not accurate in front of the goalmouth. They had 66% of ball possession, but were not clinical in front of goal.

Oliver Glasner’s men took 15 shots, but only one effort was on target. Zlatan Alomerović only pulled off one great save in the encounter when Mateta tried to score an equaliser with a superb header in the 71st minute.

AEK Larnaca secured maximum points in the match and climbed up to second place on the 36-team table. They’ve won two out of two Conference League games without conceding. Only Fiorentina is above them in the standings with the same points, wins, and goals.

Crystal Palace thrashed Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in the opening match of their Conference League campaign on 2 October 2025.

Daniel Muñoz opened the scoring in the 31st minute, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead going into the halftime break. Eddie Nketiah doubled Palace’s lead in the 58th minute, a few minutes after his introduction.

Despite losing Borna Sosa to a red card in the 76th minute, Crystal Palace secured maximum points in the match.

Penetra received a straight red card for his ugly challenge a few minutes after kick-off. Waldo Rubio scored the only goal of the first half in the 25th minute. Riad Bajic extended his side’s lead in the 54th minute.
