Estêvão stole the show when he scored Chelsea’s winning goal in stoppage time. The 18-year-old Brazilian footballer helped Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 4 October 2025.
Estêvão sent the Chelsea faithful and his coach Enzo Maresca into a frenzy when he scored from a Marc Cucurella cross in the 95th minute.
Maresca sprinted from his technical area to the corner spot to celebrate with his players. He got a second yellow after his wild celebration and was sent off.

Chelsea vs Liverpool: Who Scored the First Goal of the Match
Moisés Caicedo scored the first goal of the match in the 14th minute. His rocket of a shot from outside the box into the top left corner beat Giorgi Mamardashvili.
In the 19th minute, Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo danced his way into the box before teeing up Dominik Szoboszlai, but a Chelsea defender blocked his shot.
Alejandro Garnacho came close to scoring Chelsea’s second in the 38th minute, but his curling shot missed the right post by a whisker, leaving Mamardashvili rooted.
Cody Gakpo Scores the Equaliser
Liverpool, who didn’t have a shot on target in the first half, equalised in the 63rd minute when Alexander Isak set up Cody Gakpo with a brilliant first touch. Gakpo found the back of the net from close range.
Estêvão nearly scored with a curler from the edge of the box, but Mamardashvili was equal to the task, punching the ball out for a corner. Caicedo launched a second rocket in the 89th minute, but Mamardashvili pushed it over the crossbar.
Estêvão Cross to Enzo Fernándes
Enzo Fernández also came close to scoring from an Estêvão cross in the 90+1 minute, but his header hit the left post. Just when everyone thought the Club World Cup champions and the reigning Premier League champions were gonna share the spoils, Estêvão scored the winner.
Was This Liverpool’s First Defeat of the Season?
Liverpool has lost two successive matches in the Premier League. Crystal Palace handed them their first defeat of the season on 27 September 2025. Arne Slot’s side is second on the league table with 15 points, just one point behind Arsenal.
After their victory, Chelsea climbed up to the sixth spot. The Blues have 11 points from seven matches. Chelsea has now won three, drawn two, and lost two games.

Chelsea put on a show at Stamford Bridge the last time these two English football heavyweights met in the Premier League. The Blues thumped Liverpool 3-1 in Round 35 of the 2024/25 season on 4 May 2025.
Enzo Fernandez scored the opening goal of the match in the 3rd minute. It was the only goal in the first half. After the break, Jarell Quansah gifted Chelsea a second goal when he scored in his own net in the 56th minute.
Virgil van Dijk pulled one back for Liverpool in the 85th minute. Liverpool’s dream of securing at least one point in the clash got shattered when the referee pointed to the penalty spot after Quansah committed a foul.
Cole Palmer converted from the penalty spot, ensuring that Chelsea secured maximum points at home.
Liverpool Beat Chelsea 2-1
Before that clash, Liverpool had edged the Blues 2-1 at Anfield in the eighth round of the last campaign on 20 October 2025. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half.
Nicolas Jackson levelled the score in the third minute of the second half. Moisés Caicedo set him up. Salah turned provider in the 51st minute when Curtis Jones scored the winner.
