Kaizer Chiefs edged Kabuscorp 5-4 on penalties in the second leg of the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday, 27 September 2025.
The Kaizer Chiefs vs Kabuscorp clash went into penalties after the home side won 1-0 at FNB Stadium, making it a 1-1 aggregate score. Kabuscorp from Luanda, in Angola, won the first leg 1-0.

Makabi Lilepo scored Chiefs’ goal in the 40th minute. The match went straight into penalties after the 1-1 aggregate score. The Glamour Boys’ goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, became a hero during the penalty shootout. He saved one penalty, ensuring that Chiefs advance to the next round of the tournament.
All five penalty takers from Amakhosi converted from the spot. Aden McCarthy netted the winning penalty, sending Chiefs’ fans, who were at the stadium, into a frenzy.
Gastón Sirino, who missed a penalty recently, redeemed himself when he converted from the spot. He took a beautiful penalty, sending the opposition’s goalkeeper the wrong way.

Kaizer Chiefs played a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants in the eighth round of the Betway Premiership on 24 September 2025. Chiefs’ new striker Khanyisa Mayo scored a debut goal. He opened his goal account in Chiefs’ colours in the 39th minute after being set up by Ashley Du Preez.

Before travelling to Angola to face Kabuscorp, Betway Premiership leaders Sekhukhune United thrashed Chiefs 3-1 in the sixth round of the current campaign. It was the first defeat of the season for Chiefs. Veteran striker Bradley Grobler netted twice for Sekhukhune, and Thabang Monare scored his side’s third goal.
Chiefs’ consolation goal came from Flávio Silva in the 13th minute. It was an equaliser after Grobler’s 5th-minute goal. At that moment, Chiefs faithful had hopes of winning the fixture, unaware that Sekhukhune would score twice in the second half.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Kabuscorp: Head-to-Head
Kaizer Chiefs and Kabuscorp have only faced each other once. Kabuscorp won the last match between the two sides on 20 September 2025. Kabuscorp stunned the visiting Glamour Boys 1-0 in the first leg in Luanda, Angola.
Edo Bokota banged in the only goal of the clash in the 62nd minute. Chiefs increased the tempo of the game while looking for an equaliser, leading to the sending off of Jorge in the 90+2 minute. It was too late for the South African side to use their one-man advantage.
