Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates played to a 1-1 draw in a crucial Betway Premiership clash at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, 1 November 2025.
Peter Shalulile opened the scoring in the 20th minute for the Brazilian. However, Cemran Dansin responded for the Buccanneers in the 35th minute, changing the score to 1-1.
The thrilling encounter promised more goals in the second half, but that was not the case. Both sides had three shots on target in the match played at a sold-out stadium.
Despite having a 63% ball possession, Sundowns could not unlock Pirates’ solid defence in the second half. Miguel Cardoso’s side still tops the Betway Premiership table with 22 points from 11 matches.
After earning a point, Pirates moved to the third spot on the standings with 19 points after nine games.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates drew their last two matches. In the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final on 23 August 2025, Sundowns’ Iqraam Rayners opened the scoring in the 17th minute.
However, Kamogelo Sebelebele levelled the score in the 73rd minute, taking the game to penalties. Pirates marched on to the final after narrowly defeating Sundowns on penalties.
In the first leg of the match on 16 August 2025, Sundowns also found the back of the net first. Tebogo Mokoena scored in the 36th minute. Sebelebele again levelled the score for Pirates in the 87th minute. The clash ended in a 1-1 draw.
