Flávio Silva scored a late winner at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, helping Kaizer Chiefs secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Durban City on Friday, 31 October 2025.
The Glamour Boys’ forward replaced Makabi Lilepo in the 80th minute. Silva headed the winner in the 88th minute from Gastón Sirino’s cross. Sirino also came on in the second half of the match.
Both City and Chiefs didn’t create enough goal-scoring chances in the Betway Premiership clash. They were also not clinical in front of goal. Out of nine shots, the visiting Chiefs only managed three efforts on target.
Durban City had 10 shots in the match, but only one of those was on target. Chiefs’ goalkeeper only made one save, while City’s goalkeeper only made two saves.
It was a dull match with blunt attackers, and both sides lacked creativity and ideas in the opposition’s half. Silva’s goal helped Kaizer Chiefs secure three points from the fixture, taking their tally to 19 points after 10 matches.
Amakhosi are ranked third on the league table following their hard-fought win. Durban City remains on 15 points after eleven games. They occupy the fifth spot.

It had been a while since Durban City and Kaizer Chiefs faced each other in a competitive match. City and Chiefs’ last league match was on 18 March 2025.
Chiefs edged the Durban-based side 3-2 on the day. Keagan Dolly opened the scoring in the 5th minute, and Christian Saile doubled the score in the 10th minute.
