However, Masandawana proved why they’re the reigning African champions in the second half after Miguel Cardoso made some early tactical changes. Brayan Leon netted the equalising goal in the 54th minute, assisted by substitute Thapelo Morena.

Ten minutes later, the referee then sent off late Bafana Bafana player Jayden Adams for his second yellow card of the clash. Despite the red card, Sundowns managed to hold the Glamour Boys to a 1-1 draw in the meeting that saw seven yellow cards and one red.

Mamelodi Sundowns edged Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in a tightly contested Betway Premiership match at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on 1 March 2025.

Lucas Ribeiro scored the only goal of the match in the 41st minute, assisted by Iqraam Rayners. Three points in the bag for Masandawana!

Masandawana took three shots on target, while Chiefs took two. In terms of corners, Sundowns won two, while the visitors won just one.

Kaizer Chiefs 0-4 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns advanced to the Carling Knockout semi-finals in style after thrashing 10-man Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 at FNB Stadium on 2 November 2024.

Iqraam Rayners opened the scoring in the 14th minute after beating the goalkeeper from the spot-kick. Rayners also scored the visitors’ second goal in the 22nd minute.

Peter Shalulile also registered his name on the scoresheet, extending Masandawana’s lead to 3-0 in the 40th minute. Aubrey Modiba provided the assist.

The referee reduced the Glamour Boys to 10 players in the 54th minute after showing Inacio Miguel his second yellow card for a serious foul. With a one-man advantage, Sundowns extended their score to 4-0 in the 61st minute. Khuliso Mudau scored, and Lucas Ribeiro provided the assist.
