South Africa thumped Lesotho 3-0 in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday, 5 September at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Hugo Broos’ side, who last played in the FIFA World Cup when they hosted the tournament in 2010, proved too strong for their neighbours and collected three valuable points from them.

Mohau Nkota, who plays for Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League, scored in the 16th minute of the match after receiving a pass from Aubrey Modiba inside the box.
Burnley’s Lyle Foster made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute with an easy tap-in after Aubrey Modiba’s bullet of a shot was too hot for Lesotho’s goalkeeper to handle.
A few minutes after Foster’s goal, Orlando Pirates’ Oswin Appollis netted the third goal for his country in the 67th minute. Foster got an assist on Appollis’ goal.
