Just when the fans thought the thriller would end in a draw, Haaland converted from the spot in the 90+3 minute, ensuring that City snatched all three points.

To add more drama to the thriller, the referee sent Szoboszlai off in the 90+13 minute.

Manchester City thrashed Liverpool 3-0 in a thrilling Premier League encounter at the Etihad Stadium on 9 November 2025.

Erling Haaland blew up a golden opportunity to put City in front when he failed to convert from the spot in the 13th minute. However, the goal machine rectified his mistake, scoring City’s first goal in the 29th minute. Matheus Nunes assisted the Norwegian striker.

Virgil van Dijk was unfortunate in the 38th minute when the referee disallowed his equaliser for offside after a VAR review. Just before halftime, Nico scored the hosts’ second goal with the assistance of Bernardo Silva.

Jeremy Doku then extended City’s lead to 3-0 in the 63rd minute, assisted by Nico O’Reilly. Three goals and a valid three points for Guardiola’s side!

Manchester City 0-2 Liverpool

Liverpool defeated Manchester City 2-0 in a Premier League thriller at the Etihad Stadium on 23 February 2025. The visitors scored both their goals in the first half.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 14th minute, assisted by Dominik Szoboszlai. Salah then turned provider when he assisted Szoboszlai in scoring Liverpool’s second goal in the 37th minute.

Curtis Jones thought he had scored Liverpool’s third goal in the 56th minute, but the referee disallowed it for offside after a VAR review.

Cody Gakpo put the home side in the lead in the 12th minute, assisted by Mohamed Salah. Salah then made it 2-0 when he converted from the spot in the 78th minute.

Liverpool players were not only aggressive in attack, but they were also solid in defence. City, despite having a 56% ball possession, managed only two shots on target while Liverpool had seven efforts on target.

John Stones opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, assisted by Kevin De Bruyne (who now plays for Napoli). However, Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister levelled the score when he converted from the spot in the 50th minute.
