Samuel Mbangula scored a late winner when Werder Bremen edged Wolfsburg 2-1 in the tenth round of the Bundesliga at Weserstadion on Friday, 7 November 2025.
Werder Bremen, who came from behind, won their fourth match in the league at the death. Mbangula, who came on in the 65th minute, snatched all three points in the 90+4 minutes with a ferocious first-time shot, sending the home fans into a frenzy.
Wolfsburg went into the halftime break leading 1-0. They had taken the lead in the 28th minute via Mattias Svanberg’s goal.
Jens Stage levelled the score with a superb header in the 83rd minute. Before his goal, Werder had created a couple of chances, trying to level the score. They also had a penalty appeal turned down after a VAR review.
A few minutes before Mbangula scored the winning goal, Wolfsburg keeper Kamil Grabara pulled off an unbelievable save to deny Yukinari Sugawara, who was unmarked in the box.

After their victory, Werder Bremen moved to the seventh spot in the Bundesliga table. They have 15 points from ten games. Wolfsburg occupies the 12th spot with eight points after 10 matches. They’ve lost six, drawn two, and won two games.
