Benfica 0-1 Leverkusen: Patrik Schick’s goal earns German club first win in UEFA Champions League

Patrik Schick’s header secured Bayer Leverkusen’s 1-0 victory against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League, marking Leverkusen’s first win while Benfica remains winless.

Patrik Schick scored the winner when Bayer Leverkusen edged Benfica 1-0 on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League at Estádio da Luz in Portugal on Wednesday, 5 November 2025.

Schick, who replaced Christian Kofane in the 57th minute, found the back of the net with a beautiful header in the 65th minute.

Leverkusen moved to five points after recording their first win in the league phase of the elite European competition.

They’ve won one, drawn two, and lost one game. Benfica remains winless after four matches. The Portuguese giants have lost all their games.

After their hard-fought victory, Leverkusen moved to position 21, while Benfica are second from the bottom of the 36-team table.

Samuel Dahl doubled Benfica’s score in the 62nd minute. Joao Rego netted the final goal of the match, giving Benfica an impressive 3-0 victory.

Serge Gnabry found the back of the net in the 25th minute, and then Nicolas Jackson extended his side’s lead in the 31st minute. Loic Bade, unfortunately, gifted Bayern the third goal of the match when he scored in his own net.
