Paris Saint-Germain star Désiré Doué is not the only active professional footballer in his family. The 20-year-old midfielder has an older brother named Guéla Doué.
Désiré Doué is more famous than Guéla because he plays for the world-renowned French heavyweights, PSG, and the French national soccer team. Guéla, who is 23 years old, is also an outstanding footballer, but is not as famous as Désiré.

Which Club Does Guéla Doué Play For?
Guéla Doué is contracted to Strasbourg. The star plays the right-back position for the Ligue 1 club. Guéla appeared in 24 league matches for Strasbourg in the 2025/26 season.
He doesn’t just help his team when they’re defending, but is also good at attacking. Guéla is clinical in front of goal, and his statistics show that he also creates goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates.
He scored two goals and provided six assists in his side’s successful league campaign. Guela also scored one goal in five matches for Ivory Coast at the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations.
Guéla Doué Plays Against His Brother
Guéla Doué and Désiré Doué faced each other when PSG played against Strasbourg in a thrilling league clash on 17 October 2025. Guéla, who played the whole match, provided one assist in the encounter that ended in a 3-3 draw.
Désiré, who played 62 minutes, also got an assist in the humdinger. Both Doué brothers helped their sides secure a point in the encounter. Talk about a blessed family!
Does Guéla Doué Play For the French National Team?
Guéla Doué holds both Ivorian and French citizenship through his parents. He chose to represent his father’s country, the Ivory Coast. Guéla was in the starting line-up of the Ivory Coast national team that demolished Kenya 3-0 in a World Cup Qualifier on 14 October 2025.
While Guéla decided to honour call-ups from his father’s nation, Désiré prefers to play for his mother’s country of birth, France.
It would be interesting to see the Doué brothers battling against each other at a global event like the World Cup. I wonder who their family would be supporting, if this is to be the case.
Did Guéla Doué Grow Up in a Soccer Academy?
Just like Désiré, Guéla Doué is a graduate of the Rennes football academy. As a young boy, he started playing soccer in Rennes’ youth system from 2011 to 2020. He played there until he got promoted to Rennes’ B team from 2020 to 2023.
Guéla spent the 2023/24 season playing for Rennes’ senior team in Ligue 1. He made 26 appearances before moving on to Strasbourg.
The Rennes academy has produced some of the world’s greatest soccer stars, including Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga.
