Ousmane Dembélé has been crowned the world’s best player in 2025. The PSG goal machine won the Ballon d’Or in Paris at the 69th ceremony on Monday, 22 September 2025. He beat fan-favourite Lamine Yamal of Barcelona.
Dembélé helped his club, PSG, win the treble in the 2024/25 season of football. The French striker appeared in 15 matches in the UEFA Champions League and scored a whopping eight goals and six assists.

Ousmane Dembélé Stats in 2024/25 Ligue 1 Season
Dembélé also helped Luis Enrique’s side lift the Ligue 1 championship trophy in the 2024/25 season. He scored 21 goals and produced six assists in 29 matches. In the Coupe De France, Dembélé scored three goals in four appearances.
According to the Ballon d’Or organisers, the prestigious accolade is awarded based on three main criteria: individual performances, team performances and achievements, and class and fair play.
Ousmane Dembélé got one yellow card and one red card in 15 matches when PSG won the UEFA Champions League. He got only two yellow cards in his 29 Ligue 1 appearances in the 2024/25 campaign. He did not get even one card in the 2024/25 French Cup.
2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or Winner
Aitana Bonmatí of Barcelona was awarded the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or. The 27-year-old is the world’s best female footballer for the third successive year.
Bonmatí has scored five goals and 1 assist in four matches in the 2025/26 season of the Primera Division. Last season, she appeared in 26 games, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists.
In the 11 matches she played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the 2024/25 season, Bonmatí scored three goals.
2025 Kopa Trophy Winner
Lamine Yamal made history by becoming the first player to be awarded the Kopa Trophy for the second consecutive year. Taking to X, the Ballon d’Or official handle wrote:
“LAMINE YAMAL IS THE 2025 KOPA TROPHY! The 18-year-old Spanish wonder boy is the first to do it back-to-back!!”

2025 Women’s Kopa Trophy Winner
Vicky López won the 2025 Kopa Trophy in the women’s category. The 19-year-old midfielder also plays for Barcelona. In the 2024/25 season of the Primera Division, López scored 10 goals and one assist in 25 appearances.
In the current Primera Division season, she has netted three goals and produced two assists in four matches. López also scored one goal in eight appearances in last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

2024 Ballon d’Or: Who won?
Manchester City midfielder Rodri was honoured with the 2024 Ballon d’Or. Rodri helped the English giants win their fourth consecutive Premier League title in the 2023/24 season. He also helped Spain clinch the UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany. Spain beat England 2-1 in the final.
