Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde suffered a left hamstring injury during training, affecting his availability as the team prepares for upcoming matches, testing their squad depth.

Barcelona announced on Wednesday, 3 September, that Alejandro Balde has suffered a left hamstring injury. The La Liga champions revealed the defender was training with the team when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Barcelona, who are also gearing up for the 2025/25 Champions League season, did not share how long the full back will be unavailable for team selection.

“Defender Alejandro Balde suffered a slight injury to his left hamstring during today’s training session. His availability will depend on how he progresses.”

Is Barcelona’s Gavi Also Injured?

On 30 August, Barcelona also shared that Gavi experienced discomfort in his right knee. The midfielder missed Barça’s match against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, 31 August.

Reacting to Balde’s injury news on X, Barcelona supporters agreed that the players’ injuries will test their squad depth.

Barcelona Results and Fixtures

Alejandro Balde was in Barcelona’s starting XI in the first three games of the new La Liga season. Barcelona drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, 31 August. Hansi Flick’s side won 3-2 against Levante on 23 August, and demolished Mallorca 3-0 in their season opener on 16 August.

Barcelona has a tight schedule ahead. They’ll face Valencia in a La Liga match on Sunday, 14 September, and then travel to England to take on Newcastle United in their first UEFA Champions League game on Thursday, 18 September.
