Bruno Fernandes’ penalty deep in injury time secured Manchester United’s first win of the 2025/26 season. Ruben Amorim’s side beat Burnley 3-2 in the fiercely contested match.
Referee Samuel Barrott awarded Man U the penalty after a VAR review. Amad Diallo went down in the box after a rough challenge in the 92nd minute of the crunch encounter. From the spot kick, Fernandes sent his team’s home fans into a frenzy.
Did Bryan Mbeumo Score for Manchester United?
New signee Bryan Mbeumo also scored for Amorim’s team. His close-range shot ended in the back of the net in the 57th minute. United’s first goal was a gift from Josh Cullen, who unfortunately sent the ball into his own net in the first half. Man U were also denied a penalty in the first half after a VAR review.
Manchester United were looking to redeem themselves on matchday three of the Premier League after a humiliating defeat in the EFL Carabao Cup. Amorim’s men took on Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday, 30 August.

The Red Devils finally got their first win of the new campaign after two unsuccessful attempts in the first two games. Even after beefing up their squad with quality players like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United are struggling to turn things around.

Despite being the better side during their season opener against Arsenal on 17 August, Amorim’s side lost the home match 1-0. Manchester United also played a 1-1 draw against Fulham on Sunday, 24 August.
After their not-so-good start to the season, Man U became a laughing stock when League Two side, Grimsby Town, knocked them out of the EFL Carabao Cup on Wednesday, 27 August.

Has Burnley Won in the 2025/26 Premier League Season?
Newly promoted Burnley has not even scored a goal in the Premier League. The Clarets lost 2-0 to Sunderland on 23 August. They also lost 3-0 away to Tottenham in their season opener on 16 August.

Manchester United vs Burnley: Last Two Matches in the Premier League
On 27 April 2024, Manchester United and Burnley played a 1-1 draw. Antony scored for Amorim’s side, and Zeki Amdouni equalised from the spot in the 88th minute.
On 23 September 2023, Manchester won 1-0 courtesy of a Bruno Fernandes goal in the 45th minute. Amorim will be looking at senior players like Fernandes and Casemiro to step up and lead their teammates to their first win of the season.
