Mikel Arteta provides injury update on Bukayo Saka ahead of Liverpool vs Arsenal clash

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta announced that Bukayo Saka will miss the upcoming match against Liverpool due to injury but is recovering and does not need surgery.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update on Bukayo Saka ahead of his side’s titanic clash with Liverpool. The Gunners’ boss confirmed to the media that Saka will not be available for the crunch encounter with the Premier League defending champions.

Is Bukayo Saka Travelling With Arsenal To Face Liverpool?

In a pre-Liverpool presser at the Sobha Realty Training Centre on Friday, 29 August, Arteta revealed that Bukayo Saka is among Arsenal’s key players who will not travel with the team to Anfield on Sunday, 31 August.

Saka was subbed off when Arsenal demolished Leeds United 5-0 on matchday two of the Premier League on Saturday, 23 August. Saka scored his side’s second goal in that game.

Arteta expressed that Saka, who also represents England, is doing better but will “unfortunately” not be part of the starting lineup for a few weeks.

Is Bukayo Saka’s Injury Bad?

Arteta reiterated that Saka’s injury is not as serious as the previous one, adding that the player doesn’t even need surgery. According to Arteta, Saka picked up the injury when he clashed with one of the Leeds United players.

Has Bukayo Saka Scored Against Liverpool?

Saka was part of Arteta’s squad that travelled to Anfield on 11 May. Arsenal and Liverpool played a 2-2 draw in the match that was part of round 36 of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Saka was in the starting XI. The opposition’s goalie saved his first-time shot from outside the box in the 68th minute. He was substituted off in the 88th minute. The star has previously scored four goals in nine matches against Liverpool.
