Gerard Moreno opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, giving Marcelino Garcia Toral’s charges a confidence booster. Villarreal went into the halftime break leading 1-0.
Alberto Moleiro dribbled past a few opponents before doubling Villarreal’s lead in the 56th minute. Santi Comesana scored the Yellow Submarine’s third goal two minutes after Moleiro’s goal.
Continuing to put on a show for their home fans, Ayoze Perez also registered his name on the scoresheet, scoring Villareal’s fourth of the match in the 65th minute.
Toral’s side secured maximum points after their dominant performance. They moved to second place on the La Liga standings with 23 points after 11 matches.

Rayo Vallecano had three shots on target in the match, but Luiz Junior was equal to the task. Rayo remains on 14 points after 11 games. They occupy the 10th position on the league table.
