Marcus Thuram scored a brace when Inter Milan put on a show at San Siro on Monday, 25 August. Christian Chevu’s team demolished visitors, Torino, 5-0 on matchday one of the 2025/26 Serie A season.

Was Inter Leading 2–0 at Halftime?
Alessandro Bastoni and Thuram scored in the first half of the match. Their side led Torino 2-0 at halftime. The Nerazzurri picked up where they left off in the second half.
Lautaro Martinez, Thuram, and Ange-Yoan Bonny, who came on in the place of Thuram, also added to Inter’s total tally against Torino. Following the impressive victory, Inter moved to the top of the Serie A table on goal difference.
Inter also won their last two games against Torino. They beat them 2-0 in a Serie A match on 11 May. Nicola Zalewski and Kristjan Asllani scored during that match. Inter was also victorious in their home game, beating the visitors 3-2 on 5 October 2024. Thuram scored a treble on the night.
Inter’s Rivals Win First Match of New Serie A Season
Inter’s arch-rivals, Napoli, also won their first match of the season. The defending champions beat Sassuolo 2-0 on 23 August. Former Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay netted in Napoli’s goals during their team’s campaign opener.

Napoli became Serie A champions on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign. Antonio Conte’s men beat Cagliari 2-0 on that historic day. They stole the title by just a single point. Inter also won their last match of the season, but their victory was not enough!
Chevu’s side’s next match against Udinese is on Sunday, 31 August. Inter won 2-1 the last time they met in the league on 30 March. Napoli will host Cagliari in their next Serie A match on Saturday, 30 August.
