Denmark vs Greece: Rasmus Hojlund scores his 4th goal in 3-1 World Cup Qualifying victory

Rasmus Hojlund scored in Denmark’s 3-1 victory against Greece, leading the team to top Group C in World Cup Qualifiers, with Greece struggling in third place.

Rasmus Hojlund scored his fourth goal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers when Denmark thrashed Greece 3-1 on Sunday, 12 October 2025.

The Napoli forward opened the scoring in the 21st minute, boosting the confidence of his teammates in the thrilling encounter at Parken, Copenhagen.

It was his second goal against Greece in the World Cup Qualifiers. He also scored a brace against Belarus.

After Hojlund’s goal, Denmark took control of the first half, creating more chances to score. In the 40th minute, Joachim Andersen towered above Greece’s defence and scored a powerful close-range header.

Mikkel Damsgaard, who provided the assist for Andersen, found the back of the net in the 41st minute when a Greece defender made a colossal error inside the box.

Denmark 3-0 Greece at Halftime

Denmark was leading 3-0 going into the halftime break. Greece’s players pulled themselves together in the second half and took the game to Denmark. They scored a beautiful team goal in the 63rd minute after stringing together a few passes.

Christos Tzolis, who was a live wire in the Greek squad, made no mistake when Fotis Ioannidis found him inside the box. His accurate shot kissed the inside of the roof of the net.

With the score at 3-1, Greece continued attacking, but wasted most of the chances they created. Denmark’s defence also stood its ground when they were under pressure.

The Denmark national team, which had eight shots on target, tops Group C with 10 points after four games. They’ve scored 12 goals and only conceded one.

Denmark has won three games and drawn just one. They still have to face Scotland, who also have 10 points.

Greece occupies the third spot with just three points from four games. A whopping 10 goals have been scored against them, while they’ve only scored seven.

In a previous World Cup Qualifier, Denmark thrashed Belarus 6-0 on 9 October 2025. Rasmus Hojlund and Anders Dreyer each scored a brace in the showdown. Hojlund scored in the 19th and 45th minutes.

Dreyer netted his goals in the 66th and 78th minutes after coming on as a sub in the 64th minute. Patrick Dorgu and Victor Froholdt scored the other Denmark goals in the first half. The hosts were trailing 4-0 going into the halftime break.

Greece Latest Results

In a World Cup qualification match on 9 October 2025, Greece unexpectedly lost 3-1 to Scotland. Konstantinos Tsikimas opened the scoring for Greece in the 62nd minute of the clash.

The home side made an epic comeback in front of their supporters after Tsikimas’ goal. Ryan Christie cancelled Tsikimas’ goal in the 64th minute.

Lewis Ferguson scored Scotland’s second goal in the 80th minute, and Lyndon Dykes put the game beyond Greece when he netted the third goal in the 90+3 minute.

Denmark vs Greece: Head-to-Head

In another World Cup Qualifier on 8 September 2025, Denmark brushed aside Greece 3-0. The visitors took the lead in the 32nd minute when Mikkel Damsgaard scored from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s assist.

Andreas Christensen doubled the lead in the 62nd minute. Hojbjerg also assisted Christensen. Hojlund netted the final goal of the match in the 81st minute from Dorgu’s assist.

On 11 February 2009, Denmark and Greece played a 1-1 draw at Georgis Karaiskakis Stadium. It was a friendly match between the two European nations. Jonas Borring scored the first goal in the 49th minute, and Fanis Gekas equalised in the 61st minute.
