In their last La Liga match, Real Madrid edged Real Sociedad 2-1 despite receiving a red card in the first half of the Round 4 clash. Lethal goal scorer Kylian Mbappé and creative midfielder Arda Güler netted for Los Blancos in the first half.
Mikel Oyarzabal of Real Sociedad scored a penalty in the 56th minute, making the score 2-1. However, 10-man Real Madrid, who also had a goal disallowed, were able to defend their lead until the end of the match.

A few months earlier, on 30 September 2009, Real Madrid thumped Marseille 3-0. Ronaldo again netted a brace in the showdown in Spain. Brazilian creative midfielder Kaka scored the other goal for Madrid from the penalty spot.
